ABOUT US

Rapid Cap is designed to assist the end-user to safely remove the inner needle cap on reusable insulin pens, saving time and money on additional needles or wound care visits to the doctor or podiatrist.

REDUCE STICK INJURIES

The inner needle cap is small and fiddly and hard for most to use. Common side effects of diabetes are loss of sensation in fingers, low vision, and nerve damage. This can result in 'stick' injuries to the hands and feet if the cap is stood on, but also for their caregivers or nurses.

Rapid Cap stemmed from an everyday action that created numerous problems for the end-user and health professionals. Helping patients remove and apply their inner needle cap can be a timely exercise for caregivers or nurses as they often have to repeat the process up to six times per day.

WHY RAPID CAP?

Rapid Cap is functional and ensures the user doesn’t have to touch the inner needle cap during application and removal. The guide helps the user to the centre, where they can push the pen down using their dominant or weaker hand. When the cap has been applied or removed a ‘click’ tells the user that the cap has been removed or replaced.

A goal for diabetics is to be able to stay at home and administer their medication themselves. Rapid Cap is made with hospital-grade plastic, has internal coverings to avoid injury, and allows any fluid to drain off.

Marryllyn Donaldson is an internationally acclaimed Diabetes educator and had the pleasure of using Rapid Cap as a preventative measure in seminars.
